I believe chicano rap to be vary, how do you say, shitty.

For some reason they can not flow with what ever crappy beat they are rapping on. The stuff I have heard is not cool and it seems that people like it mainly because they want to feel "brown and proud", but come on just because you rap in spanglish doesn't prove you are "down" Another thing these chicano rappers rip of their style and flow from other rappers, I would much rather listen to reggeton, the chicano rap.

Well that depends on the person, there is alot of Chicano rap artists out there who base their whole careers on simply rapping about their street life, drugs, women etc..
Lil Rob is one of the few Chicano Rap artists now days who raps about his view in our society today, his love for lowrider cars, bikes etc...

I listen to Gregory Isaac & Bob Marley when it comes to "reggeton"..Chicano rappers aren't the only ones who sample/use other rappers style or flows..There are ALOT of rappers out there who are and have been doing the same thing..Seems like your stereotyping Chicano rap..What or who have you heard that wasn't cool? Frankly, a person doesn't have to go around flaunting their culture in order to prove themselves or that their "down" as you indicated..not unless thats what "your people" do..Brown & Proud comes from within a person..

Maybe you ought to read this for more insight on the above issue. If you don't, history will repeat itself on Calecia.com.

I agree that content does not alway make rap good. I mean look at TOO Short. He raps about bitches, and pimping them, and thats about it, yet he has manged to have about 11 albums at least 8 of which are "dope".

Brotha lynch hung on the other hand had two awsome first albums in which he flowed so awsome with the beat that you didn't care that he was rapping about, "You better pray when you see me put the nine up you pussy ho, rock and back and forth, wait for the nut then let my trigga go, boom! pussy guts all over the run."

I now it sounds corny as fuck but the only chicano rappers I have enjoyed were lighter shade of brown and the was only a couple of their songs. I have heard students in Calexico listening to diablo, Aztec pride or someshit like that and all it sounds like is some cholos trying to sound like bone thungs and harmony. I have also heard of some dudes from Hi-power records or some shit, Capone-E or some shit, wack!

Also, Kid frost "this is for the Raza" is a classic as well as Mellow Man Ace "Mentirosa"
