Sometimes when I order a meal at a fast food joint, I get a little cautious when immediately after paying the food is ready to be eaten. For example, Wendy's is pretty quick about getting your order to you ASAP, but sometimes it seems like it's a little too fast.

Today, I drove up to order in my car and once I placed my order through the intercom and stepped on the gas, my food was waiting at the drive up window inside a to go bag. I'll admit, I only ordered a 99 cent deluxe cheeseburger and a drink, but it was freakishly fast.

I took a bite and the cheeseburger was still hot (and fresh), so I know it wasn't waiting under a heat lamp, plus I ordered it without mayonaise. That's the trick, you know.

Other times I've gone inside, I'll order a full combination meal and my food is practically ready as I step to the left. It's a little scary sometimes.

So I ask, when we order fast food, do we really want it that fast?

Very rarely do I care if the food has been sitting under a heat lamp for an hour or more. Just get me the food fast. I'm in a hurry. If I had the time, I'd go somewhere else.

For example, Hamburger Stand, McDonalds, Jack in the Box, etc.

Places where I'll wait the extra 30 seconds? Carls Jr., Wendy's, and In n Out. Why? The reason these places are so good is because of the freshness factor.

Most places you can't really tell the difference.

Most of the time I'd be ecstatic if they handed me the food before I even ordered it. That's customer service.

In my fast food ventures, no one can touch these guys as far as truly "fast food" goes.

I don't care if it takes a while or not, as long as there isn't something in the food that isn't part of the actual food item (a moth or something like that).

What frightens me is the possibility that the food is not well cooked and it ends up getting you ill. I've actually gotten food poisoning from a chicken sandwich at Wendy's that made me feel like I was dying all weekend (all while camping). Even after this incident, I still go back to Wendy's cause they're currently isn't a better fast food hamburger restaurant around.

I guess I'm kinda dumb.

The risk is always there, and I've returned to places that have made me ill as well, so there you go.
