NOT SO FAST AMERI-CANO:
Yes fifth avenue books closed on the corner of mains steet but they move to another location IN Main Street. They did not close, its near the Ultimate Salon, then I think there is a Furniture Store and then Its FIfth Avenue Books! They have a good selection of books there! and a very nice girl that attends there!!!
There a no big bookstore in the Valley but I think its fare what we have. There is also a good selection of books when you go to target where many good book are in sale. Its WAY better than Wal mart!
What we have is decent and for now we dont need (but we have to someday) have a barns and noble

I noticed that I only buy books when I'm at a place like Barnes & Nobles, the reason (for me at least) must be that you walk in there expecting them to have current books on every obscure subject out there and you think "Hey, I like things, they might have an interesting book on that!" and not only do they have one, but they have a whole section dedicated to it , I don't get that when going to the Book Nook I get " Wonder what Harry Potter is up to this month"

Radiodude is in fact correct. I bought my copy of The Odessy there about three months ago, along with the Lord of the Flies.

Yeah. I got a 20 on it.
Throw in another 20 that the book store will be called a "Trail of Tears."

Almost a year later, and still no bookstore. Sad

I was really hoping that the mall would have some major bookstore, but, that never happened.

I was planning on making a thread on this same very subject, and pretty much posing the same exact question that Spic posed. I for one would be very very interested in a major bookstore in the Valley, but just like Spic, am somewhat weary of the success that it might see.

Quite sad, indeed.

How is it that Yuma with the population still being less than 100,000 has a Barnes & Noble and a Hastings, while the Imperial County which should surpass those population numbers still has nothing?

This is not counting the Christian bookstores, of course.

How different is the makeup of Yuma and Imperial Valley? Are Yumans more literate or what?
