Some people go Arrowhead, some Sparkletts, and most everyone else goes to a water shop.

Where do you buy your water and why?

I just recently started going to this place that's located at the Garcia food shopping center in Calexico. I can honestly say this is some of the best tasting water I've ever purchased, and at 20 cents a gallon, that's a pretty good deal.

A lot of the other places seem to have a very leady taste. This place isn't that bad.

Best option: drink tap water. It's about a cent for like 5 gallons and it's much safer to drink. Bottled water companies obviously don't tell you this, but they don't even test their water for adequate disinfection. Their treatment is not even complete, since the water is not even disinfected. They just add some chemicals for taste. We actually ran some tests here at the water plant with bottled water and trust me, seeing the results has made me prefer the tap water.

Don't like the taste of tap water? Simply put it in a pitcher and leave it in your fridge for some time. You'll find the "bad taste" to be gone.

So it really isn't bad for you, right?

I have fond memories of drinking from the water hose after running around and sweating like an animal during the hot summer days. While everyone would go inside for a drink, I'd ask if I could use their hose. Nothing was more refreshing.

Some might call me cheap when it comes to buying bottled water. I somehow can't accept the fact that I'm paying almost 2 bucks for a 1 liter bottle. Shit, that's more than the price of gasoline.

Actually all tap water, including Calexico's water, has contaminants such as lead, nitrates, copper, etc. We test for lead and copper every 3 years and test for nitrates and ammonia every month. We have not exceeded the MCL (Maximum Contaminant Level), which is the level set by the state where any of these contaminants can pose a health risk. So basically, yes, your water has lead and a bunch of other crap in it, just not enough to kill you or make you sick (much less than the stuff we found in bottled water).

Plus, if drinking from the tap makes you uneasy, just boil some of the water, then let it cool for a while before you drink.

Shocked

Ah so true Daniel son.

I personally buy my water next to Video 2000. 25 cents a gallon. The taste is pretty neutral and thats what I like. It tastes like water.

As for bottled water I purchase Aquafina. I can't drink any of the other brands without making a face. I hate Arrowhead and despise that one with a blue bottle and label. Fiji is some bank as shit and for that price it should include a viagra pill.

The place behind the Jack In the Box on Imperial is pretty good, and the charge 15 cents a gallon.

How true is the following statement?:

The water supply is filled with small amounts of pharmaceuticals and other chemicals.
