America’s pastime is not baseball or dropping bombs on third world countries, but getting in your gas guzzler muscle cars (SUV’s) and hitting the roads. Whether it’s a transcontinental trip or your daily drive to work people need to listen to some tunes. It doesn’t matter if you have the latest XM technology, or a simple cassette player, but when certain songs come on there is not a single worry in your life. These songs compel you to turn the volume up and make your stock speakers cry. The songs that are better appreciated while driving with the windows down, regardless of weather conditions. Even if you don’t smoke you feel the need to light one up. Every time they hit the air waves you forget about your dry cleaning, buying a gallon of milk, or how verbal ran over piksa, but all is A-Ok when you these certain songs come on.

The songs that make me just want to drive, relax, and enjoy life are Stairway to Heaven, Wish You Where Here, Heard it Through the Grapevine, Riders on the Storm, and One.

Roadtrips are very good, with or without music. I'll listen to almost anything.

There are A LOT of songs that do this for me, but the one that I first stopped to think about and realize that it was one of them was:

Fugazi - Waiting Room

The introductory bassline is just so powerful that it sets the entire tone of the song and makes for a perfect road trip theme.

One song that I can picture getting me all hyped up inside my car is:

Hulk Hogan - Real American

Songs that make me feel that way would be:

1. The Crystal Ship-The Doors

2. Stir it up-Bob Marley

3. I'm Not Your Stepping Stone (both versions)-The Monkees/Minor Threat

4. Nubes-Caifanes

5. Cosas de la vida-Eskorbuto

6. And yes: Wish you were here-Pink Floyd (this is probably one on almost everyone's list)
