Teen Band Menudo Being Revived

NEW YORK - Menudo, the popular Puerto Rican teen pop band of the '70s and '80s, is being revived.
Menudo Entertainment bought all the merchandising and property rights about a month ago from Latin record executive Oscar Lloyd, and is working with talent agencies and radio stations in its search for band members, company spokeswoman Cathy Callegari said Wednesday.
"Our aim is to target the `tween market," Callegari told The Associated Press. "We feel there's a void there. What happens is, artists start young like Britney Spears and they get old really quick and move into a new age of fans."
Auditions for boys ages 10 to 16 are planned for this summer in the United States and Latin America. Plans are for finalists to be nationally televised and judged by a celebrity panel with worldwide viewer voting.
Five band members and two alternates will be selected.
Worldwide, millions of 30+ year olds shriek in celebration. |

| This has got's to be the gayest thread ever on C.com! Why would anyone take the time of day to start a thread on Menudo? Most importantly, why would a "guy" be looking up info on Menudo? I only looked at this thread cause I thought it was gonna be about the best Menudo (food) in Mexicali or something. |

What's so gay about being in Menudo? It looks like life as a boy band superstar can be pretty dangerous.
GUATEMALA CITY - Doctors reattached three fingers to the hand of a 16-year-old pop singer, after they were severed by a helicopter rotor as he waved to fans. Ricardo Abarca was getting off the aircraft at a Guatemala City airport. In raising his hand to greet fans, he put it into the still-whirling rotor. "The index finger and middle finger are completely recovered," the surgeon said. "We only have some problems with blood circulation in the little finger." Abarca, who recently joined the popular teen group Mageneto, was hospitalized in Guatemala. |

Wow. imagine the guy that had to go and look for the fingers. It sucks to be an intern. |
