There is this one coffee shop in El Centro on 4th street that is really good. It totally kicks the shizneck out of the local starbucks we have at Albertsons.
Starbucks sucks anyways, it's nothing but overrated, watered down, doo doo.
I don't know the name of the coffee shop, well actually it's more of a donut shop, with an extra room on the side, and some seats in front for you to sit on. It's really worth going it is some good coffee.
The best directions I can give is, it is located in the "shopping center" where the Sherm 'n Scotty's used to be. The locale is actually right next to Sherm 'n Scotty's. |

I think you might be talking about El Centro Donuts. Is it the one right next to the Texaco. If not this place is pretty good, except my chick use to work there and the owner was a real dick so i don't go there. Fuck willie, thats the guys name. He is this older Flip. guy and he sounds all cool with the client but he treated my girl like shit. So fuck El Centro Donuts! |

| I realize that by coffee shops you mean places that will make you a mocha latte, or macchiatto but if you want a regular cup of joe at a good place I would highly recommend Border Cafe on First street. They have what I like to call madrugador coffee that tastes really good. Its made fresh like every fifteen minutes and they go great with some pancakes and bacon (another one of their specialties) To hell with Denny's and Carrow's overpreiced menu; I like my 2 dollar three stack with all the coffee I want. |

I don't know what might be the best coffee shop in the area, but I'll tell you where you can find the best coffee. Any coffee pot that I or one of my old coworker might be manning.
Allnighters are not a rare occurrence when you work in IT, so a good supply of liquid crack is definitely a must. You could pound Mountain Dew all night if you wanted to, but we found that the all too frequent trips to the pisser cut to deeply into development time. Therefore, we devised a coffee formula that perks you up quicker than a lightning bolt to the sack, while maintaining an excellent flavor.
What we came up with we named "Nervous Wreck", a straight, black coffee that will not let any light pass through at any angle, and "White Man in Harlem", the same cup of coffee, but with one cube of sugar thrown in.
Maybe I'll make a pot if we ever get a Calecia.com gettogether organized. |

Though I myself drink a half a pot of coffee (2 large cups realistically, and 4 actual cups according tot he pot) every single morning without fail, first thing--in fact I even have my boyfriend get up and make it before I'm up so that I will have it first thing--I must agree with the French (God forgive me) in that so long as your talking about American "coffee" you mean "Jus des chosettes" which roughly translates to "a juice extracted from socks--probably dirty socks." NO matter what you call it--"white man in Harlem", etc... it can't be what you describe if its just black coffee. You have to brew it pretty damn strong which risks just being disgusting. What you need is a little something called an "expresso Cubano"--no longer in existence around here--but it consist of a double shot of strong expresso, stirred with a stick of cinnamon and with a squeeze of lemon added, and then the lemon thrown in. It looks like trash, but its a wonderous thing. Interesting and even good taste, but so strong and so keeps you going for days without over-caffenation jitters or over caffenation fatigue from exhausting the chemicals and stuff that goes on when you force your body into the rushed reaction coffee is prized for.
But safer, less caffenated, more evenly distrubed through the body for those not prepared for good expresso, I actually recommend Mate (withan accent mark on the e) tea. Usually found in stores under Celestial seasonings brand's name for it, "Morning Thunder"--much better than coffee for effect.
Drink coffee, but not to stay up. Drink it for the mystique and aesthetic attached, for the taste.
And NEVER go to Starbucks for any alternative! Turn to illegal drugs before you turn to them, whose products should be illegal. |
