Anyone tried Tacos Zaid near the "casa de jubilado?"
Heard it was good, if not the best in Mex. |

Any new suggestions?
I keep going to Acatlan because of overall taste and distance, but am looking for a new spot.
BTW, where is the "casa de jubilado?" |

Has this place been around a while? I always hear the following complaint when it comes to Mexicali eateries: "Place X used to be really good, but then Thing Y happened and it hasn't been very good since". So is this place good or simply good right now? |

I asked the taquero how many years this place has been around and he said supposedly seen 1972. When I went inside, it seem very familiar as if I had been them as a kid.
Also when I told him that my cousin said they were good, he responded with, "los tacos o los taqueros." They have a sense of humor, that's for sure.
I guess the only problem with this taqueria is that it's kinda indoors and a little smokey. So after you're all done you might smell like carne asada and want to eat yourself.
Whatever you do though, don't listen to spic-ole when it comes to tacos. He doesn't know a damn thing about them. |

Yeah, like elchrist has never been wrong about a place. I'm trying to remember the last place he recommended that was actually good. Can't do it.
Can anyone on here remember a place he recommended recently that was good? (Pampas, Sakura, or any other place that just about 99 percent of Mexicali knows about doesn't count.) |

I don't think it counts if you agree with yourself. |
