Glad too.

The point is to discuss horrible and/or ridiculous films that appeal to you for reasons other than those intended by their creators, i.e. Howard the Duck, Over The Top, etc. Films such as Sgt. Kabukiman N.Y.P.D., or any other Troma production, for example, don't really count since they are intentionally campy.

Reservoir Dogs didn't win any Academy Awards, either. Should it be in this thread too?

Starship Troopers is an excellent film. Though extremely watered down compared to the book, Verhoeven did an great job portraying the fascism and xenophobia that Heinlein was critiquing in his writing. Plus, his use of contemporary imagery and propaganda (SS-inspired military, "You're either with us, or against us" rhetoric, etc.) makes the film an awesome satire.

Big Trouble In Little China is a Carpenter classic. Most of the people who criticize his films simply aren't fans of his style of filmmaking (He is a genre unto himself, hence the term Carpenteresque.) So why do they even bother watching them? I know what to expect when I go see one of his films and he delivers, so I'm never disappointed.

Disorderlies (1987)

I used to make fun of the people who idolized this movie, but now find myself helplessly viewing it as it randomly appears on my television set.

I think what he is try to say is:
The movie needs to horrible to the point that you watch it becuase it is so terrible.

The other movies mention don't count becasue they are good movies that did poorly or did not get enough attention in the theaters.

Nothing ruins a movie for me like seeing Eric Roberts' name in the opening credits. I don't know what it is. I mean, the guy is no Anthony Hopkins, but he's no Vin Diesel, either.

The only exception would be some movie he was in, dressed in drag. Can't recall the name, though.

If you take the movie at face value it is a horribly acted movie and it is for this precise reason why I am irresistibly drawn to it. I wasn't even aware that it was based on a book. I'm just blown away by the awful acting in it. Doogie on the other hand turned in a stellar performance.

It is true that not all Non-Oscar winning films can be placed in this category but Starship Troopers as a stand alone movie definitely ranks up there for me.
