Assault on Precinct 13 Remake

Variety reports that Maria (SECRET WINDOW) Bello, John (SPAWN) Leguizamo and Drea (THE SOPRANOS) de Matteo have joined Ethan Hawke and Laurence Fishburne in Focus Features' remake of John Carpenter's film. Directed by Jean-Francois Richet from a James DeMonaco script, the redux begins shooting April 4 in Toronto.

I saw the listing on the IMDb during the time we were playing Name That Flick. There were no details for the movie, just the title and year. I was going to post about this after someone wrote in the correct reference to "Got a smoke?," but unfortunately I forgot.

Boy, I was pissed. Thanks revramrod for ticking me off again.

This movie is an instant failure in my eyes, but I can guarantee it'll be a hit at the box office. I can only imagine what the soundtrack will be... no John Carpenter masterpieces, that's for sure.

Gabriel Byrne and Busta Rhymes are tipped for the remake as 'Duvall' & 'Smiley' while Brian Dennehy has joined the cast of the John Carpenter classic remake.

I just saw most of this movie last night and it wasn't that bad. In fact, it was actually pretty good and was similar to the original in that it was slow and they didn't try to throw in all this action to keep the kids with ADD watching. It was a bit brutal at times.

I passed out before the ending, but I'd recommend it. Although I'd first recommend watching the original which is a lot cooler.

Oh, and it was Ja Rule that played the Smiley character.
