The latest fad to hit the airwaves has been the Atkins, but c'mon was that really healthy eating? The Zone diet (40-40-20) that Ame-ricano has pointed out has to be the best idea on paper but the worst idea to execute. Unless you live in LA and have people deliver your breakfast, lunch, and dinner every day I see the 40-40-20 (Zone) as something nearly impossible for the common person to succeed at.

Actually it's pretty easy to execute. The key here is planning. I move around a lot so I need to plan my meals. I cook them ahead of time and freeze them and when I need a meal I simply pop it in the microwave. I also relay a lot on liquid meals like meal replacements and protein shakes. If you plan to succeed there is less chance you will fail or quit.
Watching what you eat is great, but a "diet" is not suppose to be a phase you go through when you need to loose weight it should be a life style. As a former bodybuilder my diet was VERY important to me and I lived by it and I would adjust it to my need at the time. So for someone to say that a diet a waste of time, well, if you see diet as a temporary fix for a weight issue than it is a waste of time. A good diet becomes a part of your life. Watching what you eat and avoiding junk food that in itself is a "diet."
Everyone has diet it can be a good one or bad one.
So you eat healthy. That's your diet, you have a healthy diet. Sometimes you need to be strict and some time you can be a bit freer, but as long as you don't break your diet pattern. |

The key word here is planning. I'm not a planner, but it seems like you have a great system. Props.
I've taken Met-Rx before, but someone I know who is currently a bodybuilder told me that meal replacement wasn't the best or that good. Since that was last summer I can't remember the names of the other products he endorsed. In other words if I would want to drop some duckets what should be the best product out there? |

Exactly! I guess I should've elaborated, in my post, a little more. |

Met-RX MRP taste like shit. I prefer EAS Myoplex (Strawberry) it's a little pricey but it well worth it if you're going to be taking them twice a day.
Isopure is also a good MRP. When I'm short on money I make my own meal replacement:
2 scoops of whey protein
skim milk or water ( I prrefer water)+ice
strawberries
2 spoonfulls of Flax seed oil
cup of oatmeal
blend together and shock it down. |

I have some Optimum Whey Protein is that decent?
As for the oatmeal, is that raw or do I have to make it first?
Flax?
I'm a rook. |

Optimum is one of the best proteins out there, that's the one that I use or Nitro-Tech.
Oats you blend it raw, the minute oats work best.
Flax Seed Oil is an essential fatty acid that your body needs for healthy hormone production.
You can buy at GNC or Wal-Mart. It comes in a liquid form. You can also use Fish oil. |

I don't think nitro-tech contains creatine, but they make cell-tech which is a high gycemic creatine. Besides, I'm using creatine right now. Creatine is a good thing. |

| Thanks for all the info, but I have to admit I have not been following it. The thing is I'm at UCSD and go out to eat pratically every day. I don't usually get fast food. Well, depends on what each one considers fast food. I usually get turkey subs on wheat with no mayo and all the veggies. I also love veggie soups. I try to get a two pieces of fruit every day. I avoid sweets, but I must admit they are really tempting. I feel the results of exercising regardless of my diet, but if you guys could give me some options that are propably offered on campus and that I don't have to prepare that would be great Thanks!! |

I guess I got my brands mixed up. I thought creatine was banned from MLB. So creatine is a good thing, should I replace my whey protein for a creatine/protein based powder? |
