Wouldn't it be better not to cheat at all, though? I mean, if you're gonna commit to such a drastic change in diet, might as well stick with it for the duration of said diet; to reach your goal quicker. Or is there a calculated reason/benefit to cheating, besides the psychological effect?
Also, what is the caloric/carbohydrate limit for the cheat? Say, if you stick to a 2,500 calorie diet for six days, how many can you consume on your seventh (cheat) day? |

There are several benefits to havin a cheat day. One of the benefit is he increse in calories causes a insulin spike that can acctually help increase your motablism. Aother benefit is that the over feeding also help the body get certain nutirients that are hard to get from a clean diet.
If this isn't good enought for you here are some more from another source that refer to when I have questions:
Increased storage of fat and carbohydrate. It's been estimated that in the average person, outside of the post exercise window, a meal consisting of over 750 calories (regardless of the macronutrient content) leads to measurable fat storage.
Increased sympathetic autonomic nervous system activity (norepinephrine release, epinephrine release, and related autonomic nervous activity).
Increased release of thyroid hormone (T3 and T4).
Increased thermic effect of feeding. This is the cost of metabolizing the food.
Increased percentage of energy comes from carbohydrate oxidation while a decreased percentage of energy comes from fat oxidation.
Increased spontaneous activity or NEAT (non-exercise activity thermogenesis). This represents the activities of daily living, changes of posture, and fidgeting.

If you keep a daily calorie intake of 2,500 then on a cheat day you take that amount and you toss it out the window. On cheat days I can easily consume over 3,000-3,500 calories. After a cheat day I usually feel really great and my muscles feel full and pumped. |

| I want to ask anyone if they knows a diet for girls. I excersise three times a week, but do not follow any diet. I am not interested in losing too much weight, maybe just like five pounds to make my body a little easier to tone. I don't have a problem with eating vegetables, so any diet that involves salads is still a good suggestion |

I know woman have it a lot tougher than guys to burn fat, so I would recommend cutting down on fats. A lot of salads may not be the answer either. Too many carbs, and unless you do cardiovascular, you could end up gaining wait instead of losing it.
Whatever your diet may be, always remember that cutting stuff out of your diet that you really enjoy will get you in the end. Over time, your body can forget how to handle those tasty little vanilla Zingers, so be careful with not only what you eat, but what you cut out temporarily. |

Diets for women are the same as for guys. The only diffrence is the serving sizes.
Like spic-ole said you can start by cutting out certain foods from your diet. You can start by switching to fat-free milk, cut down on cheese or use non fat American. You can cut out Mayo, candy, sodas and junk food in general. Increase your water intake and take a good multivitamin. Get lots of sleep. Use the list of foods above and make three balanced meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner) then had a snack between meals like yogurt, fruit, and a protein shake. Use a liquid Carb after each workout.
After you drank a shit load of water drink some more. |

Diets are pointless. If you diet and don't exercise you'll eventually get off the diet and gain all the weight back. If you exercise right, then you really don't need to diet.
As long as you don't gorge, you should be alright.*

You are some what correct, but not everyone is the same. A good day of diet is more important to me than a good day in the gym. I've cut down my body fat from 14% to 8% with diet alone and no cardio. I did need cardio to get me down to 4%bf.
The thing is not everyone is built the same. Some people can eat whatever they want and not a gain an once, other simply look at a cookie and gain 10lbs. |

Diets don't work because they are pointless. If you want to lose weight and/or shed some inches then go with healthy eating. I make a distinction between them because one is a quick fix remedy while the other is some thing for the long haul.
The latest fad to hit the airwaves has been the Atkins, but c'mon was that really healthy eating? The Zone diet (40-40-20) that Ame-ricano has pointed out has to be the best idea on paper but the worst idea to execute. Unless you live in LA and have people deliver your breakfast, lunch, and dinner every day I see the 40-40-20 (Zone) as something nearly impossible for the common person to succeed at.
Still, healthy eating works your body better than anything. Stay away from too much fat such as manteca, fast food, junk food, etc and you'll be ok. But, while healthy eating works wonders on your arteries, skin tone, waist line, I still believe everyone needs a little cardio in their lifes. Working out, playing ball, or going for a walk not only helps your body out, but more importantly it helps your mind. While doing cardio you relax your mind, plus at the end of the work out you feel good. That's the whole idea of diets to feel good. Well, with a little healthy eating and some cardio here and there you can feel good regardless of how much you weigh.
And like Ame-ricano (aka A'nold) said drink and drink and drink lots of water. |
