The big four credit bureaus; Experian, TransUnion, Equifax and now Innovis; are permitted to sell your personal information, including your name and address, to companies that hope to put one of their credit cards inside your wallet/purse and offer you all sorts of credit options.

Selling your information without you getting your share of the profits? Doesn't sound right to anyone, does it?

Thanks to the Financial Services Modernization Act, you can stop this activity from happening. Yes, it's a fairly old act from 1999, but many consumers are not aware of it. I sure wasn't.

I called the toll free number today and opted out to prevent my personal information from being sold or given away by the big four credit bureaus.

It only took about two minutes of my time and the removal process will be completed within five business days. Pretty easy steps for being pro-active and protecting your credit record, plus eliminating a lot of junk mail letters.
