The big four credit bureaus; Experian, TransUnion, Equifax and now Innovis; are permitted to sell your personal information, including your name and address, to companies that hope to put one of their credit cards inside your wallet/purse and offer you all sorts of credit options.
Selling your information without you getting your share of the profits? Doesn't sound right to anyone, does it?
Thanks to the Financial Services Modernization Act, you can stop this activity from happening. Yes, it's a fairly old act from 1999, but many consumers are not aware of it. I sure wasn't.
