We love Chicalones.

If we had the money, we'd setup a Web site just for them.

If C.com was more chicalon friendly I'm sure more people would visit this site. Having a 100% american site in a 95% mexican town is not very logical. That would be like having an Armani store in Tepito, people would just go inside and look but not buy anything, just like here people log on and look around and don't come back anymore. Then the few people that come in and and bring in a little controversy but write in spanish are kicked the fuck out (barcenas). Funny though how many mexicans on this site are supposedly all about helping out mexicans, and defending the wetbacks etc...(calexico in Calecia), yet they're racist as fuck on this site against mexicans that dare to write in spanish.

It’s all about assimilation when it come to helping the Mexican-American. If you plan to succeed in this country, you must adjust the culture of it society. If a Mexican expects to accomplish anything in this country, they must learn to speak the language of the land. Sure there is no official language, but Spanish alone will not get you far. It might help you as a second language, but the matter of the fact is that Mexicans have to speak and write English to get a job better than taking orders for Jumbo Jacks. Sure, I want Mexicans to succeed, but they have to obtain a higher form of education besides a high school diploma. Now a day a Bachelors is not even good enough. The number of Hispanics in Graduate school is low and if we can raise that number than maybe we as Hispanics can obtain better jobs and status in society that will allows to opens doors in higher positions that will encourage others to follow. Sure, we live in a community of mostly Hispanics, but how many of them actually want to succeed. How many of them accept the U.S. as their home. The language that I choose to speak and write does not determine my ethnicity. I was born Hispanic, that can never be taken away from me. I realize that by being born Hispanic I have a statically lower chance of raising above middle class, but my wiliness to educate myself is my fight against a society that expects me to settle for middle class.
To succeed you must assimilate and we have. If we refuse to type in Spanish, it does not make us less of a Hispanic than the next person who prefers to type in Spanish. If we cannot read Spanish, it does not make us less of a Hispanic than someone who does. The fact that we live a large Hispanic community does not validate the argument that we must all read and speak Spanish. It has been established that the language used in this site is English and that does not make us less Hispanic than a “Chicali.com.” Could we go into Chicali.com and type in English? Would we be accepted? They live in a border town and why is it any different. The fact that we refuse to accept threads in Spanish does not make us anti-Hispanic. We are Hispanics who prefer to type and read in English. That is what this site has become and if they cannot accept it then there are plenty of other sites that prefer Spanish.

I was just told about this site and the first thing that came into my mind was..."Is that site gangster??" After reading some discussions though, I felt like I should join. My question is though, when people around the valley first hear about the site, can they really be expected to take it seriously after hearing the url is "www.calecia.com"?? I know I didn't.
