| If in an emergency you had a choice of hospital to go to, what would it be? share any bad or good experiences you may have had in either hospital. |

I chose the El Centro Regional Medical Center over Pioneer's Memorial Hospital based on the fact that there is actually a new hospital there and I work in El Centro and live in Calexico, so logisticly it's the best option.
If Calexico would have it's own hospital then I'd have chosen that one, but of course that isn't an option yet. |

About a year ago, I almost cut my finger off at the tip with a metal fan. Well, I went to EC Hospital at about 12am or 1am. I waited for about an hour and a half. I was finally called in and I waited another hour. I finally saw a doctor and he put butterfly bandages on it. I got home at about 3-4am. I was not happy with the bandage I was sure I needed stitches. Well for the next two days the bandages kept falling off and I started bleeding really bad, I went back to the hospital for a check up and the doctor on duty was pissed off that they used bandage and not stitches. Four days later, I was still bleeding as bad as the first day. I remember the doctor saying something like 'its shit like this that makes people choose Pioneer over us'
If I had known this, I would have taken the extra time to drive to Brawley. Never again. |

| Thank God I've never had the need to go to a hospital yet, but my family has gone cause of my Grandma or my nephews and they all go to Brawley. They say it's less of a wait, and the people are much nicer. ECRMC has a bad rep for the workers being dicks and bitches. So if down the road I have the need to visit a hospital, I will definitely choose Brawley. |

ECRMC may have a new facitlity, but their staff is still considered sub-par. Like Americano, I too had to go to ECRMC to get some stitches, and waited over an hour with some bathroom paper towels healing my scars. It wasn't until a nurse, that I've known for over 10 years, recognized me that I actually got any kind of treatment.
If I'm in a life or death situation, I don't care if I'm in Mexicali, just get me to a hospital, but if I've got a choice, I'm going to Brawley. I've heard way too many horror stories from ECRMC to want to go their by choice. |

i would probably go to brawley based on the same fact. my little bro was born in brawley, and part of that reason was the service they have. it seems like any agency in brawley has nicer people. i know the dmv does. |

An urgent care center is planned to open soon, but there are some legal setbacks. It'll be named the Heffernan Memorial Hospital District and will operate for a number of hours per day.
Pioneers Memorial Hospital is funding the facility. |

| From a Calexico resident and friend whose dad past away several years back, his take is that El Centro blows, and its 'worth' it to drive to Brawley. Forgot the reasoning why, but I'll take his word for it since he has seen how both centers work under extreme conditions. |
