So what'd you guys think of the awsome ass kicking Mexico gave USA ? It has been a while since any mexican national team has played as great a game as yesterdays. USA was invisible for most of the game, they only took about 2 clear opportunities on goal. The USA players downplayed the awsome fan support, but I'm sure it had a lot to do with the performance of the Mexican players.

This isn't the first time that Latin American fans chant the words "Osama" at the United States national team. It's ridiculous for them to be chanting it, but coming from Mexicans it is just funny, although unacceptable.

This was a great game for Mexico. I'll admit that I was a little nervous during the first half, but after the very close back to back goals, I knew there was no way Mexico could lose*.

I really liked the roar coming from the crowd everytime the US goalkeeper kicked the ball.

"PUUUUUUUUUUUUU-TO!"

* Of course they've been known to completely ruin a lead.

GUADALAJARA, Mexico -- The boos nearly drowned out "The Star-Spangled Banner," and a few dozen fans chanted "Osama! Osama!" as the United States was eliminated by Mexico in Olympic men's soccer qualifying.

That shows no class, and gives white people more reason to think badly of Mexicans.

You have obviously never been to a international soccer match with Mexico playing. The fans aren't really trying to offend the opposing country's team, but are just there to have a good time.

If it takes chanting Osama or simultaneously raining the lower tier of fans with beer to have a good time, it is going to happen.

Remember the "MION! MION! MION!"? Same thing.

I don't think that it shows no class, although I do think it's wrong, It's part of a rivalry in a sport full of passion. USA had that same thing done in Italy a while back, when the war with iraq first broke out.

What white people? No gringo gives a damn about soccer and as the article said, it wasn't televised in the U.S. I doubt ESPN even showed highlights of the game.

Come on, now. You don't really think that's the same thing, do you? Chanting "Mion" when someone is going to take a piss is quite different than chanting "Osama".

Let's go shout "Hitler" at any sporting event that features a Jewish player, just to show we're having a good time.*

*And, NO, morons, I'm not comparing Osama bin Laden to Adolf Hitler.

Chanting "Mion" and "Osama" maybe not be the same thing, but the meaning behind both words is identical.

(OK, there's my cheesy patriotic statement for the entire year.)

My entire point is that the crowd does it out of fun. Even though it is a completely fucked up thing to do, considering what this terrorist leader did to the nation/world, it provides entertainment for the event. I'm sure there were Mexicans who died on 9/11/2001 and there have been Mexicans who have died in the wars against terrorism that president Bush has led our country too. Do you think that the Mexican nation doesn't know this? Mexicans are not this ignorant.

This is all Mexican sports culture.

In my opinion, it's the same thing, regardless of how much it may piss anyone off.

Actually, ESPN showed all four goals. They had a little segment.

Pardon the Interruption had their last segment on it.

I was pretty stunned.

Did you know that Mexico has eliminated the US baseball and now soccer teams from the Olympics?
