No wilderness survival books. They have to be novels. |
you can't change the rules after they have been published. this should have been stated in the original post |

Being stuck on a deserted island, having three novels in my possession would be the last thing I'd want. Sure, I would receive some type of enjoyment by reading some well written and interesting books, but I don't see the "replay value" in any of them especially if you are going to be stranded for months or possibly years.
All alone, it would be time to get "spiritual" and begin to study and practice such activities as meditation. So my first book would be the most complete meditation book known to man.
Next, to compliment my time alone and my newly picked up "hobby," I'd choose a belief such as Buddhism. Already having some slight interest in this "religion," I'd select the most extensive book on Buddhism.
For my third selection, I'd have to select an actual hobby. Assuming that the deserted island actually has waves crashing onto it, I'd start surfing. The book on surfing I'd choose would have to include every detail about this pastime. From how to build your own surf board to the best techniques around on how to be the best.
So maybe I wouldn't be a well read individual if I was ever rescued, but at least I'd be a self contained spiritual human being who can hang ten. |
