For a long time, I used the Mach 3 razor, and even though it's really good for not cutting yourself, I felt I wasn't getting the closest shave possible. So I switched over to the Shick Extreme 3, and I really liked it. It's a closer shave than the Mach 3, and the irritation rate was about the same.
However, the other day, I went to the store to buy some new blades, when I noticed that Shick 3 stock was kind of small. Which made me realize that with the release of the Shick Quattro, the Shick 3 is soon to become extinct.
My question to the rest of you consumers is, have any of you tried the Mach 3 Turbo or the Shick Quattro? And if you have what are the results? How do they compare to their predecessors? |

| I now use Mach 3 Turbo after having used the regular Mach 3, and honestly I don't see or feel any differenc. The only thing that has made a difference for me is using the Anthony logistics pre shave oil (which elchrist still owes me one), and their shaving gel, not cream. |

| I found out about the Mach 3 Turbo when I accidentally bought the refills for my Mach 3. If I had not seen the package, I would have never known the difference. |

Do the Turbo refills fit the regular Mach3? |

Yes. They are "backwards compatible."
The Mach III Turbo razors a significantly more expensive as well. About $1 more per 4 pack. |

The only significant difference is that the tubo is blue and the original is grey. |

|
|
After 2 years of using a Norelco Spectra 8895 XL electric shaver, I called it quits. As my second set of blades were wearing out and doing more bad than good to my face, I decided to switch back to bladed razors.
I picked up the Gillette Fusion Power at Costco after spending minutes trying to figure exactly what was the difference between the battery powered version and the non-battery powered version. Both had the same price and I was actually getting a free AAA battery out of the Power model. The GF Power also had a thicker handle, so that seemed to be a better choice for my hand. The only thing I seemed to like about the non-Power one was the color over the Power version, although none compared to the original Mach III design.
I'd read that the battery powered razors are completely a hoax, but I went with it anyway. The buzzing on my face is kinda cool as it reminds me of using my electric shaver. I know that it isn't doing anything extra for me.
Compared to the Mach III, I can't really tell much of a difference. It seems to be a closer shave, but anything would be closer after having used an electric shaver for the past two years. Regardless, it's working quite well for me and I'm happy.
The only thing I'm not a happy camper with is the price of replacement blades. Costco seems to have the best deal, but at $30 for a set of 12, that's still a total rip.
I did read a review on Amazon where a reviewer stated that a Fortune Magazine recommended using Arm & Hammer Clean Shower on your blades after each shave. This would supposedly extend the life of each blade to two whole months. I've yet to try it, but it's worth a shot as it makes sense that this product would remove any of the build-up on the blades. |
